Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has admitted that he and his coaching staff being careful with Cristiano Ronaldo, despite insisting that his knee injury is "forgotten".

Ronaldo has not played in either of Madrid's pre-season friendly games against Inter Milan and Roma in the USA, as a result of the knee injury he picked up towards the end of last season.

We have to be careful. He is taking things very carefully, but the problem is forgotten.

He is training well by himself and today he did a double training session. We are going to see over the next few days whether he can play against Manchester United.

Shaw: Van Gaal was right to criticise my fitness

Luke Shaw insists he has no problem putting the hard yards in to make sure he is fully fit for his first season as a Manchester United player.

In a frank interview following United's penalty shoot-out win over Inter Milan, Shaw conceded manager Louis van Gaal had every right to criticise him over his lack of fitness.

Obviously I have seen that, and it's something I totally agree with.

To play in this formation you have to be really fit. I am fit but I am not at the high level he demands.

I have got to get fitter to get up and down (the wing). It's something I have got to work on.
