Jimenez overhead kick saves Mexico

A last-gap scissor-kick goal from Raul Jimenez gave Mexico a 2-1 win over Panama in their World Cup qualifier.

Mexico needed a win to maintain their chances of progressing directly from the CONCACAF zone and they must now wait for the last match, against Costa Rica, to seal their fate.

Chicharito double sinks Japan

Javier Hernandez scored twice as well as missing a penalty as Mexico beat Japan to finish third in Group A of the Confederations Cup in Belo Horizonte.

The Manchester United man headed home twice in the second half after Mexico improved on a miserable first 45 minutes.
