England stay seventh in FIFA rankings

England have maintained their position in the top 10 of FIFA's latest world rankings.

Roy Hodgson's side remain in seventh spot after a month of limited international football showed very few changes to the rankings.

All the top 10 spots remain the same, with Spain top ahead of Germany, while the Republic of Ireland (39th place), Wales (49th) and Northern Ireland (119th) are also unchanged.

Scotland however have dropped a place to joint 78th after being leapfroggred by Senegal.

Robbie Keane to undergo scan ahead of Austria tie

Republic of Ireland skipper Robbie Keane was today awaiting a scan on his calf ahead of Tuesday night's vital World Cup qualifier against Austria.

Keane picked up the injury in Friday night's 0-0 draw in Sweden and while he was at training in Malahide this morning, he did not join in with the group.

However, Manager Giovanni Trapattoni is hopeful that he will be fit to lead his side out against the Austrians.Midfielder Glenn Whelan, who missed the game in Stockholm with an ankle problem, was able to train today.
