Marco Reus has warned Germany that Scotland will be no pushovers when the two sides meet in their opening Euro 2016 qualifier in Dortmund on Sunday.
"The Scots won twice against Croatia," the Borussia Dortmund midfielder, who missed the World Cup through injury, said at a press conference.
"They have a very strong team, which plays competitively at a high level and closes the space well.
"We need to be much better than against Argentina. In front of goal we need to be more determined and use our chances better.
"Scotland definitely have a chance of finishing in second place. With Darren Fletcher they have a real leader, up front they have quick and dangerous players. You have to be patient against them."
Scotland's friendly against Nigeria on Wednesday night is understood to be the subject of a police investigation for match-fixing.
The National Crime Agency, which investigates serious and organised crime, is reported by the Daily Telegraph to have asked FIFA to issue an alert over attempts to fix the game at Craven Cottage.
No Scotland players are understood to be involved.
A Scottish FA spokesman told Press Association Sport: "We are liaising with the relevant authorities and will prepare for the match as normal."
Gordon Strachan will look to guide Scotland to their sixth game without defeat when they face Nigeria on May 28 after the Scottish Football Association confirmed the Craven Cottage friendly.
The governing body has announced the Dark Blues will face the Super Eagles in London at the home of Barclays Premier League side Fulham.
Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski has been ruled out of Poland's squad for the friendly against Scotland.
Lewandowski was present as Poland launched their new strip in Warsaw but he will be back in Germany when Scotland face their Euro 2016 rivals after failing to overcome a knee strain.
Wales have been drawn in Group B alongside top seeds Bosnia-Herzegovina. Scotland, meanwhile, face Germany, a much tougher task.
Scotland captain Darren Fletcher has been recalled to the international squad for a friendly against Poland next month.
