Hull striker Matty Fryatt has joined Sheffield Wednesday on a one-month loan.

Fryatt has made just two appearances for the Tigers this season, both in the Capital One Cup, and manager Steve Bruce has been eager to get him a short-term deal to build match sharpness.

Matty needs to go somewhere and play. One game a month in a cup competition is not enough," said Bruce.

"He needs to go and play four, five, six games in the Championship.

"He could do with that and it could do him the world of good."

Madine guilty of asault

Sheffield Wednesday striker Gary Madine has been found guilty of assaulting a supporter of his own team in a nightclub

Madine, 23, was found guilty of causing Daniel Beresford actual bodily harm in the city's Paris Bar.

But a jury at Leeds Crown Court cleared Madine of the more serious offence of causing Mr Beresford grievous bodily harm.

Two goals in the space of five first-half minutes gave Burnley a 2-1 win against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.

Headed goals from Danny Ings after 33 minutes and Sam Vokes five minutes later won the game but Wednesday created a nervous finish for the Clarets after pulling a goal back on 70 minutes through David Prutton.

Dave Jones fires off 17 minute referee rant

Dave Jones was livid with the officials after Sheffield Wednesday's 2-1 defeat at QPR in today's Championship opener.

Jones believes the referee had a "shocker" and risked the wrath of the Football Association as he ranted for 17 minutes about the officials' poor display.

I think it is an embarrassment for the official to miss the two clear-cut penalties.

You need big calls at places like this in front of a big crowd. You need a big referee to make a big call and he didn't do it.

We just lost our concentration and they capitalised on that. To add insult to it, he then goes and books him and says it is a dive.

He will go home tonight, put his feet up and get another game - and I don't think it is right.

I don't know where you will put him. I don't know what league you would put him in because if you can't pick that out there, he won't pick it out anywhere.

– Sheffield Wednesday manager Dave Jones
