Le Tiss: Pochettino might regret Spurs move

Southampton legend Matthew Le Tissier believes Mauricio Pochettino might have made an error by becoming the new Spurs boss.

I probably wouldn't have made the same move, to be honest.

" think in his position, his stock is very high. I would have maybe would have waited for a different club.

The managers in the last few years at Spurs have not been given a fair crack of the whip and the pressure is on there.

If he is not in the top four by Christmas, he will be under pressure.

It is not a club that I would have said was the best one he could have maybe done for his career prospects.

Victor Wanyama is missing Mauricio Pochettino already...

I learnt a lot from him, he taught me more and that's why I have grown as a player and there is a big difference compared to when I was at Celtic.

He played a big role in my career development.

I wanted him to remain because he had the passion for the club and I think the owners should not have let him go because the team can do better next season.

It's a big blow because he had good connection with the players

– Victor Wanyama, speaking to Capital Sport

Pochettino linked with Spurs job

Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino is in advanced talks with Tottenham to become the north London club's next manager.

Pochettino has been linked with the role at Spurs for some time and it appears the wheels are in now motion for the Argentinian to succeed Tim Sherwood.

Sherwood, who had been appointed as a replacement for Andre Villas-Boas in December on an 18-month contract, was sacked earlier this month after guiding Tottenham to a sixth-placed finish in the Barclays Premier League.

Watford sign Spurs keeper Gomes

Watford have signed Brazilian goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes on a free transfer from Tottenham.

The 33-year-old has agreed a one-year deal at Vicarage Road, with the club having the option for a further 12 months.

Watford announced on their website: "Heurelho Gomes has agreed terms on a one-year deal at Vicarage Road and will officially become a Watford player on July 1."

Gomes spent part of last season on loan at Bundesliga side Hoffenheim.

He made 135 appearances for Tottenham over a six-year period having arrived at White Hart Lane from PSV Eindhoven in 2008.

Having been given his international bow in the 2003 CONCACAF Gold Cup, Gomes was also part of Brazil's 2010 World Cup squad in South Africa.
