Former Ukraine midfielder Andriy Husin has died at the age of 41, the nation's football federation has announced.

Local reports say Husin, who won 71 caps for his country, was killed in a motorcycle accident on a race track in the Ukraine capital.

Husin was a defensive midfielder who spent most of his career with Dynamo Kiev, where he won seven league titles, four Ukraine Cups and also helped the club reach the semi-finals of the Champions League in 1999, where they lost to Bayern Munich.

Ukraine friendly to go ahead despite crisis

Ukraine's friendly against the United States will go ahead on Wednesday in Cyprus, according to US Soccer.

Reports on Monday night said the match - already moved away from Ukraine - had been cancelled due to the ongoing crisis in the country.

US Soccer issued a statement saying it had contacted its Ukrainian counterpart the FFU seeking confirmation of its plans amid the reports, but later confirmed the match would go ahead.

"The Football Federation of Ukraine confirmed that their team will travel to Cyprus and the match will proceed as scheduled," US Soccer said via Twitter.

The match is part of the United States' preparations for the World Cup in Brazil.
