Irvine: No good for Berahino to sulk over England

West Brom boss Alan Irvine insists there is no point in Saido Berahino "sulking" about his recent England snub.

The in-form youngster was selected in Roy Hodgson's squad for the Euro 2016 qualifier against Slovenia and friendly against Scotland.

However, he ended up kicking his heels on the bench for both games rather than getting his senior debut, with tried-and-tested veteran Rickie Lambert even preferred as a late substitute at Celtic Park.

There's certainly no benefit to sulking. He has to look at the last two weeks as a great experience - one that helps him to become a better player. If that helps him to raise his game to another level, then fantastic.

We will get the benefit of that and ultimately Saido will as well. It is vitally important he has learnt a lot in these last two weeks and that helps him make the progress he needs to continue to make.

He knows he has a lot to do to continue to develop to become a regular at that level. I really hope this will give his season yet another boost.

Australia defender Davidson eyes loan deal

Jason Davidson insists he is happy at West Brom but has admitted he may look for a loan move to help his international career.

The Australia left-back has made just five appearances for the Baggies since his move from Dutch side Heracles. He has been kept out of the side by fellow summer arrival Sebastien Pocognoli but is likely to get his chance at Chelsea on Saturday with Pocognoli an injury doubt.

"Being over in England I'm developing as a player and that's the most important thing for me," he told Fox Sports.

"I'm happy where my situation is. I'm just trying to work hard to get good time.

"If I need to get on loan to make sure I'm starting for the Socceroos at the Asian Cup [in January], that's what I have to try to do."
