Wigan have been fined £40,000 by the Football Association for breaching agent regulations.
The Latics admitted a charge in relation to their signing of Marc-Antoine Fortune in July, with the conduct of agent Willie McKay going against FA regulations.
The FA confirmed in a statement that an independent regulatory commission hearing had fined the football club, while McKay has "had his overseas agent registration suspended for nine months", with the punishment "stayed for a period of two years".
Callum McManaman's quick-fire strike booked Wigan their place in the Sky Bet Championship play-offs by securing a 1-0 win that has left Birmingham City on the brink of relegation to League One.
McManaman struck with his fourth goal of the season - and his second in the last four games - after he caught Birmingham napping in only the third minute at St Andrew's.
But for Birmingham, only three years after winning the league cup when they beat Arsenal at Wembley, they are now staring into the relegation abyss following an 18th successive Championship home game without a win stretching back to October.
Blackpool earned a priceless victory in their fight against the drop as they shocked play-off chasing Wigan 2-0 in the Sky Bet Championship.
The Latics could have booked their place in the top six with a victory, but Uwe Rosler's men were below-par across the board and squandered an excellent opportunity to take the lead when Martyn Waghorn saw his penalty saved midway through the first half.
Goals after half-time from Andy Keogh and Stephen Dobbie sealed victory for the visitors, who completed a double over their Lancashire rivals.
