On 17th November 1993 England played San Marino in a World Cup Qualifier which would go down in history - for all the wrong reasons.

Needing a seven-goal victory over the minnows, plus a Poland win over Holland to qualify for the USA World Cup, England suffered a first-minute shock when they conceded a goal to San Marino striker Davide Gualtieri.

England recovered, with Ian Wright's four goals helping the Three Lions to a 7-1 victory, but the damage was already done.

England failed to reach the World Cup and the match proved to be Graham Taylor's last in charge.
