Madrid rival Barca supply line to Spain U21 champs

Real Madrid's summer signings of midfielders Asier Illarramendi from Real Sociedad and Isco from Malaga have seen them draw ever closer to Barcelona in ownership of Spain's top young players.

Asier Illarramendi (back, second left) and Isco (front, third left) have joined Alvaro Morata (back, far right) at Real Madrid.

Four players from the Spanish starting XI that won the recent Under 21 European Championships were from Barca's title-winning squad, compared to only Alvaro Morata from Real.

That number is set to fall though with Thiago Alcantara tipped to leave Camp Nou. Marc Bartra, Cristian Tello - a recent transfer target for Liverpool - and Martin Montoya are the others.

While Man United's David de Gea was the only English-based player in the team, the rest of the team was made up of Illarramendi's former Sociedad teammate Inigo Martinez, Sevilla's Alberto Moreno and Atletico Madrid's Koke.
