Former Portugal and West Ham forward Paulo Futre has accused Sepp Blatter of hating Cristiano Ronaldo.
Futre also called FIFA's Ballon d'Or award "a farce" and suggested Blatter's disdain for Ronaldo has prevented him from winning the trophy more than once.
– Former West Ham and Portugal forward Paulo Futre speaking to Marca
I'm lost for words after what Blatter said about Ronaldo. The man in charge of football cannot speak like this. I know Cristiano Ronaldo and, besides being a great footballer, he is a good son and brother as well.
His words explain why Ronaldo doesn't have more Ballon d'Or trophies. That award is a complete farce. Portugal play Sweden in the World Cup play-off soon and Blatter's hate for Cristiano worries me.
From now on, Blatter is a 'persona non grata' in Portugal. He should quit now. He cannot behave like this, ridiculing Cristiano.
