Barcelona's injury crisis deepened on Thursday after it was confirmed defender Dani Alves will face a spell on the sidelines with a calf injury.

The Brazilian full-back should miss a week to 10 days of action after suffering a slight tear to the soleus muscle of his right leg.

While his injury is not a long-term concern, it does give Barcelona boss Gerardo Martino an added headache as the full-back joins fellow first-team players Victor Valdes, Jordi Alba, Gerard Pique, Cesc Fabregas and Lionel Messi on the sidelines.
