It's hot, sweaty and uncomfortable in Monaco ahead of today's opening time trial, which must only add to the uneasy atmosphere in the Astana team.
I've been on Astana watch since arriving on Wednesday and from their body language alone it's obvious that something isn't right.
They've all been fairly visible as they've gone about their business, rather than hiding from the media spotlight, and that's been enough to demonstrate the tension.
I spoke to Lance Armstrong yesterday (as you'll see in our highlights show tonight, ITV4, 8pm) and pushed him pretty hard over Alexandre Vinokourov's assertion that he will soon return to Astana.
Not only did the seven-time Tour winner deny all knowledge of any such plan, he even refused to accept that Vino said anything at all. An incredible denial even by his standards.
Alberto Contador looks downbeat, skulking around, and the divisions between the Contador and Armstrong camps are clear. Andreas Kloden, meanwhile, looks a man on his own.
So what of today's time trial? In Contador, Armstrong, Levi Leipheimer and Kloden, Astana boast four absolutely outstanding time triallists.
And today's stage could have a huge influence on the team's thinking for the rest of the Tour.
A report in the Spanish media today quotes Benjamin Noval, left out by team boss Johann Bruyneel for this year's race, claiming Astana is not structured around Alberto Contador. Bruyneel's priority is Armstrong, so Noval says, and any suggestion that the American will support the Spaniard is wrong.
It was always a criticism of Jan Ullrich's T-Mobile team, the main challengers in Armstrong's years of dominance, that they had too many chiefs, and I think Astana may suffer from the same problem.
Leipheimer told me yesterday that not only do they have a Plan B, they have C and D too - and assured me this will be a strength because no-one will be able to read Astana.
On the contrary, I suspect a lack of a coherent plan, and infighting in the team, could prove their biggest weakness.
