Dutch team confirms Cavendish altercation

Dutch team Skil-Shimano has admitted that one of their riders was involved in an altercation with Mark Cavendish in Stage 2 of the Tour de France.

The incident occured in the final leg of the race, when Dutch rider Piet Rooijakkers was seen grabbing Mark Cavendish's jersey before the swinging twice at the Columbia-HTC rider.

A spokesperson for the team confirmed that Rooijakkers, who finished in 61st place, had struck out at Cavendish after being pushed into the Columbia-HTC line by another rider, Lloyd Mondory of the Ag2r La Mondiale team.

According to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, Cavendish blasted the Skil-Shimano team after winning the race, saying its members have "absolutely no respect for [their] colleagues".
