SUPERSTAR APPLICATION: INTERACTION INFORMATION
Contacting the Programme:
These terms apply when an applicant makes an application to take part in the ITV Programme with the working title “Superstar” (“the Programme”) after the opening date and time for receipt of applications.
Opening/closing date & time:
The application period opens on Wednesday 18th January 2012 and closes on Wednesday 15th February, 2012at 11.59 p.m. The producers may extend the closing date in their sole discretion. If they choose to extend the closing date, this will be notified on www.itv.com/superstar.
Eligibility criteria:
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
(a) Must be aged 18 or over on Wednesday 15th February 2012. If you are under 18 years of age please make sure that you get the permission of your parents or legal guardians before applying;
(b) Must have the right to live and work in the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man or Republic of Ireland and be able to demonstrate that you have this right on request by the programme producers (the “producers”) at any time and you agree to notify the producers immediately of any change in your immigration status;
(c) Must not be an employee or a close relation of an employee (i.e. mother, father, son, daughter, brother or sister) of ITV group of companies (“ITV”), AEG Live (UK) Ltd (“Tour Promoter”), The Really Useful Group Limited, the producers or any parent, subsidiary or associated company;
(d) Must disclose to the producers when asked, details of any and all convictions and actions pending against them currently and/or any conviction(s) in any countries other than driving offences which have not resulted in a ban. Furthermore, applicants must agree to submit to a Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) check at any time, at the request of the producers. At the sole discretion of the producers, certain convictions (spent or otherwise), and/or pending criminal proceedings against an applicant may invalidate their application or otherwise result in the termination of their participation in the Programme;
(e) Must be prepared to undertake a medical and/or psychological assessment at any time during their participation in the Programme, conducted by a certified practitioner, if required by the producers, to determine at any stage their health and fitness to participate in the Programme;
(f) Must disclose to the producers when asked, whether they are represented by a manager/agent or similar;
(g) Must disclose to the producers when asked, if they are legally obligated to any party which would preclude their participation in the Programme;
(h) Must be available for initial audition purposes (or otherwise) on one or more specified dates including but not limited to dates during the period from Thursday 16th February 2012 to Saturday 10th March 2012 inclusive or such other date or dates as may be specified by the producers; and
(i) Must be available to travel to the audition location specified by the producers to audition during the period from Thursday 16th February 2012 to Saturday 10th March 2012 inclusive, or such other date or dates as may be specified by the producers.
If applicants are successful at the initial audition then they will be invited to attend later audition stages and must be available to audition at those later stages on such date or dates and at such locations as may be specified by the producers. If audition stages involve travel abroad, it is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure they have all appropriate travel documentation including passport.
The series winner must be available to rehearse and perform on tour in the lead role of a new production of “Jesus Christ Superstar” on dates to be outlined by the Tour Promoter.
The producers will require (i) current and valid proof of the applicants’ home address (“POA”) (such as recent utility bill, credit card statement, council tax bill, rent book and tenancy agreement), and (ii) current and valid photographic proof of the applicants’ identity and proof of age (“ID”) (such as passport and current UK photocard driving licence). Failure to provide suitable current and valid POA and ID or if the POA or ID provided is deemed unsuitable in the producers’ sole discretion this may result in exclusion from any location during the Programme and forfeiture of the chance to participate in the Programme.
Failure to comply with the eligibility criteria as set out in these terms and conditions, and elsewhere as applicable, or failure to comply with instructions and/or directions given or failure to comply with these terms and conditions in any way, may result in disqualification from further participation in the Programme including without limitation, removal from any location during the Programme. The producers reserve the right to disregard or to consider any applicant who does not comply with these terms and conditions.
The applicant agrees that they may be contacted by the producers or other third parties designated by the producers. Not all applicants will be contacted.
Application criteria:
Applications which are incomplete, incomprehensible, illegible, inaudible, inappropriate or which are received or submitted after the deadline for receipt of applications may not be considered.
Method of application:
Follow the instructions as set out on www.itv.com/superstar (the “Website”) to complete an online application form and provide valid and current information including without limitation, the applicant’s given name, preferred or stage name (where applicable), gender, date of birth, age, home address, contact phone number and email address as well as selecting which one of the proposed six (6) locations including: Belfast, Dublin, Cardiff, Manchester, London and Glasgow they wish to audition in if they are selected to audition for the Programme. Applicants can briefly outline their relevant experience, suggest a song that they would sing if they were invited to audition and upload video and/or audio files of them performing, but this is optional.
An applicant can submit one application only. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that they provide in their application correct, current and valid contact details. Please note that there is no other method of application other than as specified in these terms and conditions. The producers bear no responsibility for any application which is incorrectly submitted, lost or delayed due to technical problems, or damaged in any way. The applicant will receive a message acknowledging receipt of his/her application or a message asking them to re-submit it if at any time their application is not successfully received.
An applicant suffering from a disability may be accompanied by a carer aged 18 or over to assist in their personal care during their participation in the Programme, subject to the discretion of the producers. The carer may not take part in the Programme as a participant but they may accompany the applicant at all times during the Programme unless otherwise specified. The carer must provide suitable current and valid POA and ID to the producers when asked. If an applicant or their carer is deemed to be under age 18, they will each be denied entry to or removed from the relevant venue. It is the responsibility of the applicant to inform the producers in advance of any filming for the Programme of any wheelchair or similar access requirements for the applicant, their companion and/or carer.
All personal details and/or information given in the application either in the form or otherwise must be truthful, accurate and in no way misleading. The applicant agrees to update the producers if any information they provide becomes inaccurate between now and the date of first transmission of the Programme. The producer reserves the right to disqualify an applicant if they have supplied untruthful, inaccurate or misleading personal details and/or information, have failed to abide by the Programme rules and/or are in breach of the terms hereof.
Cost of applying:
There is no charge for application but internet service provider’s fees may apply when accessing the internet.
Selection criteria:
Applicants will be judged based on the selection criteria including without limitation their personality, ability to perform the role of Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar, vocal ability and suitability of vocal range.
Participation process:
The Programme production team will review the applications and in their sole discretion select applicants to audition during the period from Thursday 16th February 2012 to Thursday 20th March 2012 inclusive. The producers do not undertake to hold auditions at each of the six (6) proposed locations. The successful applicants must be available to audition at the regional location they selected at the time of their application, or at an alternative location at the producers’ discretion. The producers cannot guarantee that applicants will be allocated their chosen city. The production team’s decision is final. All successful applicants for the initial audition will have received confirmation of their progress on or by Friday 9 March 2012. If an applicant has not been contacted by this date they should assume their application has been unsuccessful.
Applicants that are successful at the initial audition must be available to audition at later stages on such date or dates as may be specified by the producers. If an applicant is unable to attend any of the dates after the initial audition the producers reserve the right to disqualify the applicant from further participation in the Programme.
Should an applicant be selected to take part in auditions and/or the Programme they must agree and undertake to enter into further contracts with the producers, Tour Promoter and/or any other parties at the producers’ discretion (including but not limited to The Really Useful Group Limited) and agree to abide by the terms therein. Failure to sign such contracts will result in disqualification from further participation in the Programme.
Use of application and participation:
By applying to participate in the Programme, the applicant agrees to comply with these terms and conditions and consent that their application, including any personal information they provide in their application, may be used by the producers in whole or in part or not at all. By making an application and (if applicable) participating in the Programme, the applicant grants the producers permission to use the application and participation in any way the producers see fit.This means that the producers can use, edit, reproduce, record, modify, translate, distribute, play, perform, broadcast, make available and display their application and/or participation (or part thereof) and/or prepare derivative works of the application and/or participation by any medium or method whether now known or later developed, including without limitation on the website or any other website in its sole discretion anywhere in the world. The producers may also permit third parties to use the application and/or participation. The applicant grants the producers the right to use their name, voice, likeness, photographs and any biographical material concerning them, and where applicable their companion and/or carer in connection with the Programme and any products/services derived thereof and/or in connection with the producers worldwide by all means and in all media in perpetuity.
The applicant irrevocably grants and assigns all copyright and other rights in any audio and/or visual recording(s) and/or image(s) made of their participation in the Programme, including without limitation of their application, to the producers and waives and/or agrees not to assert any moral rights or any similar rights in jurisdiction, so as to permit the fullest use throughout the world of such recording(s) and/or image(s) or any part(s) thereof in perpetuity by all means and in all media now known or hereafter developed in connection with the Programme or otherwise. This means that the applicant waives the right to complain about the way in which the producers may edit, alter or use the application or participation and that the producers do not have to identify the applicant. Each applicant acknowledges and agrees that they will not receive any fee or royalty payment from the producers or any third party for the consents and grants given by them in relation to their application and participation. They also agree that their audition(s) are not professional performance(s) and does not entitle them to wages, salary or other compensation.
The applicant (and where applicable, their companion and/or carer) may be required to provide their signature as proof of their agreement to relevant waivers, releases and/or consents when taking part in the Programme. Failure to sign any relevant documentation may result in forfeiture of their continued participation in the Programme.
General:
The producers may provide the applicant with rules of the Programme verbally and/or in writing and the applicant acknowledges that the producers have the right at their sole discretion to amend such rules. The interests of the Programme will override those of applicant. In the event of any fault, mistake, misunderstanding or dispute concerning the operation of any part of the Programme or the rules, applicant agrees that the producers’ decision in this regard shall be final. The applicant agrees that if there is any discrepancy between such rules and these terms and conditions that the rules shall prevail.
The producers reserve the right, at their sole discretion, to disqualify an applicant for any reason at their discretion any stage of the process including without limitation if the applicant is suspected of or shown to be tampering with the submission or audition process, or attempting to undermine the legitimate operation of the competition by cheating, hacking, deception, or any other unfair playing practices; acting in violation of these terms and conditions or other rules of the Programme as determined by the producers; or acting in a disruptive or inappropriate manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person.
The applicant agrees to keep confidential and shall not disclose to any third party, without the prior approval of the producers, any information, images, recordings or other material relating to their involvement in the Programme except where such information is already in the public domain. Prior to the first broadcast of the Programme, the applicant may not take part or otherwise appear in any other Programme except where requested by the producers in their sole discretion.
Please note that outside of this application process, acts may also be invited to audition for the Programme by researchers acting on behalf of the producer. Such acts will be required to go through an audition process and normal Programme rules will apply.
The applicant agrees that they do not have any commercial relationship with ITV and/or the producers and that they are not an agent of ITV and/or the producers.
Unless otherwise specified, neither ITV nor the producers are liable to refund any costs or expenses incurred in submitting the application or participating in the initial auditions including but not limited to internet access fees, any phone calls made, travel costs and accommodation, incidental costs, charges, fees, expenses and taxes.
Neither ITV or the producers shall be liable to you for any loss or damage or injury to any applicant or their property caused by or suffered during or in connection with their involvement in the Programme and/or the audition process unless caused by the negligence of ITV or the producers and recoverable on that ground following judgment of a competent court of final judgment.
These terms and conditions may be amended in the sole discretion of ITV and/or the producers at any time without prior notice. Any changes will be posted on the itv.com website. It is recommended that the applicant print and store or save a copy of these terms and conditions for future reference.
These terms and conditions are available in English only and shall be exclusively governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England unless the applicant is a Scottish or Irish resident in which case he/she may choose the law of their residence and they irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales again unless the applicant is a Scottish or Northern Irish resident inwhich case they may choose the courts of their residence in Scotland or Northern Ireland.
