
eBay shoppers and sellers raised over £10.1m for UK charities in 2011...
Over £6.25m was raised by charities trading on eBay.co.uk, with 844 charities trading on eBay in
October 2012, and individual donations rose to over £3.8m for 2011, up from £3.3m in 2010.
Since the credit crunch in 2007, buyers and sellers on eBay have donated £35 million to good
causes, and last year alone, the eBay UK community raised over £10.1 million for charity, a 34 percent
increase on the £7.5m raised in 2010, and a 300 percent increase from 2007 to 2011.
Since 2007, eBay.co.uk has evolved into an online hub for over 7,000 charities, and has introduced new and easier ways for users to donate as they buy or sell like the hugely successful ‘Give at Checkout’ function, in which eBay buyers are asked to add £1 for charity at checkout, which has now raised £6.6m since its launch in 2008, with over 100,000 eBay users donating each month.
Over £6 million was raised by UK charities trading on eBay in 2011, with charities such as Oxfam
and Sense hitting over £200,000 in sales.
Globally, the eBay community donated £39.78 million (US $63 million) to U.S. and U.K. not-forprofit organisations in 2011.
