Earlier this week Dr Chris revealed the hellish truth that high heels are bad for our feet!

Such was the response that we decided to open our very own bunion clinic and ask Dr Dawn Harper to meet three viewers with bunions on the brain as we get to the bottom of this podiatry problem.

So what does cause a bunion, and can we ever prevent them? Watch today's show to find out...

Dr Dawn's top five bunion tips

  1. Spend as much time as you can out of those heels
  2. Avoid heels more than 4cms high and always opt for well-fitted shoes that are wide enough to accommodate your feet comfortably
  3. Backless shoes and ill-fitting shoes will make your toes claw. If you have to wear them, they really should be limited to occasional high days and holidays
  4. Use gel pads and painkillers to ease any discomfort
  5. If you are still struggling speak to your GP but remember recovery from bunion surgery will take several weeks
