Unable to have children herself, Katy Slade turned to her younger sister Lucy and sister-in-law Jamie to make her dream of a family come true.
The path to parenthood can be difficult, as This Morning Fertility Week this week has proved. According to our exclusive survey, up to 9% of Brits would consider IVF treatment using a donor egg, while 21% said surrogacy would be an option for them.
Katy, 31, and David Slade, 33, needed both to make their dream of a family come true. The couple always knew they wanted a baby of their own but with Katy unable to have children because of a rare genetic condition, they needed help, and that help came from close to home in the form of David's older sister Jamie Allan, 35, and Katy's younger sister Lucy Marks, 27. The two joined forces and whilst one provided the egg, the other acted as a surrogate.
Now Katy and David have a beautiful baby daughter Beatrix. So we've invited all three women, along with Beatrix, five months old, to join us in the studio and tell us their extraordinary story.
