Wondering where we found our famous set pieces? This Morning's production designer Clara Zita and her team have scoured the showrooms to locate the perfect products to enhance the friendly feel of the show, and now she's sharing her inside knowledge on how to get the look.
Clara says: What a lovely summer it has been! It's hard to think that autumn is just around the corner but the shops are full of lovely things for the coming season. We've had a great fresh start on This Morning with some interesting new design adventures, starting with our central chat area wallpaper which we designed in-house. It was our first time designing a wallpaper, and it's been so well received by viewers over the summer that we are keeping it for the autumn run. Our iconic sofas from DFS have been brightened up with a splash of colour with cushions by Laura Oakes, and we have a new main rug from John Lewis and a deep turquoise rug and a blue patchwork rug from Woven Ground on the Kings Road, they have a great selection of designer floor coverings. We have new set glasses from Designers Guild and great mugs from the Royal Festival Hall gift shop here on London's Southbank. The lovely sideboard is from Orla Kiely.
We have put our iconic flowers (from Phlox Flowers) in some deep turquoise vases from Habitat, and the study area shelves have been added to with interesting ornaments from Bo Concept (thanks for the ice cold bottle of water that you gave us when we were buying on the hottest day of the year!) and Dwell, who we are happy to see still around. We found good kitchen accessories in The Conran Shop and Designers Guild, and our new nest of tables come from Habitat.
I was asked to update the design of our Hub, so I have recladded the walls in a new light oak laminate which looks good on camera. I also built new iPad stations which could be repositioned in any configuration. Holly and Phillip had fun with them on the first show back and the stations have proved a great online hit with our viewers. Soon to arrive is a massive new touch screen from Sharp which is on it way to us, so watch out for it on the show soon!
