My friends didn’t know who David Cameron was either
– Devon Boon
Yesterday a BBC journalist wrongly tweeted that Queen Elizabeth had died. Buckingham Palace was forced to issue a statement reassuring the public that the Queen was in good health.
Devon Boon can relate to the BBC reporter, after experiencing a social media gaffe herself following this year's General Election. When the 21 year old was left baffled by the number of posts on her Facebook newsfeed about David Cameron she asked her 2,000 friends 'Who's David Cameron and why do people keep posting about him?'
Devon later admitted she also thought Barack Obama was a terrorist. Devon's story featured in the national newspapers and she became a national laughing stock. She joins us today alongside social media expert Zoe Cairns, to recall being left red-faced - but says her gaffe has sparked an unexpected interest in politics!
