Postpartum Psychosis: 'I thought my baby had died and would come back from the dead'
I was sectioned and because I was so deluded, I didn't realise my daughter was gone...
– Hannah Faulkner
Known for years as merely a case of the ‘baby blues’ - we take a closer look at the support available for new mums as 80% of parents say they feel it is severely lacking in the UK.
Today we meet 29-year-old Hannah Faulkner who suffered from such bad postpartum psychosis that she thought her 11-week-old daughter Esther had died and would come back from the dead. Hannah ended up sectioned and treated on a mental health ward for 4 months.
Now pregnant for the second time, Hannah is here alongside husband Andy to tell us that although there is an increased risk that the condition could resurface, she now knows the signs to look for and will not let it define her.
