Should England move to an opt out organ donation system?
I didn’t realise that 3.6 is the average number of recipients. To hear she was a record holder was quite extraordinary. It is lovely to think she is going on.
– Sophy Layzell talks about her daughter Jemima's organ donation
Prime Minister Theresa May yesterday pledged to change the organ donor system in England and move to an "Opt Out" system where organs become available unless people decide not to take part.
As Mrs May's comments provide a glimmer of hope for the 6500 people currently on the waiting list, we're joined by a mum whose teenage girl helped to transform the lives of a record eight people, after her tragic death led her to becoming the largest organ donor in UK history.
Sophy Layzell is delighted the government now appears to understand the extraordinary power of organ donors like her daughter, Jemima, and joins us now to tell us more about her incredible legacy.
