This week the case of an Italian woman whose child was forcibly removed by caesarian section came to light. And earlier, we met Kelly McWilliams who underwent a similar ordeal when social workers arrived to take her baby away as she was in labour.
So are too many children being taken away from their parents without good reason and is it social services who are to blame? Or are media reports giving social workers a bad name when the job they do is tough enough already?
Independent social worker and child protection consultant Joanna Nicolas joins us to discuss the issue, alongside agony aunt Denise Robertson.
