Esther Rantzen is one of Britain's most celebrated campaigners for the protection of children.
In 1986 she was responsible for the creation of Childline, a free and confidential helpline specifically for children in danger or distress.
However, a recent claim has the potential to cast a cloud over her integrity and charitable work. A fellow abuse campaigner Shy Keenan alledges that Esther failed to act when she alerted her to a rumour that Jimmy Savile was abusing children some 18 years ago.
