Hilary Freeman joins Eamonn and Ruth on the sofa to talk about feeling like a murderer after making the devastating decision to end the life of her unborn daughter.
When Hilary Freeman, 41, fell pregnant with her first child she was overjoyed. Expecting a much-wanted little girl, Hilary and her boyfriend Mickael immediately began picking out names and dreaming of an exciting future as parents.
Their joy, however, was short-lived, as a scan at eight weeks showed that the embryo was not growing as it should be. At 22 weeks, after extensive tests, Hilary finally discovered that the beloved baby girl she had called Elodie had an extremely rare chromosomal condition called Trisomy 2 Mosaicism.
This condition would mean a life of pain, suffering and crippling disability. With this knowledge weighing heavy on her heart, Hilary took the only decision she felt she could and ended the life of her beloved daughter.
She joins us now to tell us how her harrowing decision has left her feeling like she murdered her baby girl.
