Mollie Moran, now 96, worked in the kitchens of a London townhouse from the age of 14 - in a real life Downton Abbey story.

With programmes such as Mr Selfridge and Downton Abbey being ever popular, that decadent upstairs-downstairs world of 1930s stately home living has never been more fashionable.

Someone who lived through it is Mollie Moran who is 96 and living in Bournemouth. At just 14 she took up a position in the kitchens of a London townhouse, and she's just released her memoirs of that time. Mollie's memoirs give a fascinating insight through Mollie's eyes into life and society, at that time, before war broke out in 1939 and changed everything.

She reflects on a bygone age and gives us a true insight into the world that Downton Abbey depicts.
