Our Fashion Producer Anna Dowd gives her stylish insight into just a few of the shows so far from London Fashion Week.
What does one eat for breakfast during fashion week? That’d be ice cream and pink lemonade at Claridges if you were at the Mulberry show. The quintessential British brand Mulberry drew inspiration from the Great British Summer for their seaside-themed show.
Candy-coloured clothes were layered up with macs and raincoats as shimmering metallics gave a nod to sparkling pier lights. The brand known for its bags made it clear that there’s another key accessory for summer: the fashion dog, (as seen on the arm of any key members of the fash pack dahling).
Celebs were out in force for this early morning show. We caught up with Kirsten Stewart, Eliza Dolittle and Kate Moss, who managed to make double denim and a trilby (I know, I know) look cool!
Next stop, SW1 for Nicole Farhi, where Anna Wintour in the front row gave us immediate assurance that we’d bagged one of the best tickets in town. Fresh-faced models wore flowery shades of buttercup yellow, cactus green and lily pink as shapes were simple and uncomplicated.
After our interview with Ms Farhi herself we legged it over to Waterloo for Topshop Unique where Egyptian-inspired prints were modelled to hip hop beats. The team at Toppers merged the old with the new as graffiti-style hieroglyphics, pyramid gemstones and printed sweatshirts of Elizabeth Taylor as Cleopatra featured in the collection. Models received the Midas touch with gold slicked-back hair.
The fashion front row was as strong as ever and we spoke to the super friendly, super cool Kelis, Nicola Roberts and Ellie Goulding.
