German rider Andre Greipel says he's achieved a personal goal by winning his first ever stage of the Tour de France after beating former team-mate Mark Cavendish to the line in Carmaux by inches.
"It's an incredible feeling for me," said Greipel, "To win a stage in the greatest race in the world was my goal. I am the happiest person in the world at the moment."
By denying his former HTC-Highroad team-mate Cavendish some vital points, Greipel, now riding for Omega Pharma Lotto, helped his team-mate Philippe Gilbert in his hunt for the Green Jersey.
