Cadel Evans was understandably delighted after his second career Tour stage win, but reserved special thanks to his teammate Marcus Burghardt after suffering technical problems on Stage 4.
"I'm so happy with the guys today and how it turned out," Evans said after crossing the line at Mur-de-Bretagne barely inches ahead of Alberto Contador.
And Evans also revealed he was indebted to his German teammate Burghardt for helping him through a technical problem with his bike.
"I had to change bikes with 15km to go," the Australian admitted. "Today my hero is Marcus Burghardt who took me right from the very back to the very front and dropped me where I needed to be."
