Thomas Voeckler held on to the coveted yellow jersey after giving the performance of his life to prove he is no longer an underdog in this year's Tour. That makes him our Rider of the Day, as judged by Rupert Guinness.

Stage 14: Thomas Voeckler - Euopcar

"Seven years ago, in 2004, Thomas Voeckler produced one of the greatest rides of the race to defend the yellow by 22 seconds at Plateau de Beille in the Pyrenees. But what he pulled out of the bag today on stage 14 of this year's race at the same finish hit that feat for six.

Voeckler started the stage with the typically stoic belief that he could keep the Tour lead, but admitted later he felt it would be by only a few seconds at best. But the sight of him climbing up Pleateau de Beille with the overall contenders - and answering every attack by Andy Schleck
was simply astounding.

As the Tour leaves the Pyrenees, his overall lead is 1 minute 49 seconds on Frank Schleck. He should now lead the Tour into the Alps. Will he emerge as the dark horse of the Tour?"
