IG Markets Rider of the Day Stage 21 - Edvald Boasson Hagen

Edvald Boasson Hagen wins Rider of the Day for his brave attempt to go for mission impossible and try and beat Mark Cavendish in the bunch sprint on the Champs Elysees.
His attempt for a third stage win didn't work out, but it was a great try nonetheless and added an unexpected twist to the Tour's final chapter.
Judge: Alasdair Fotheringham (The Independent)
IG Markets Pro Cycling Index Stats of the day: Mark Cavendish is only the second British rider to win a Tour de France jersey, after Robert Millar's King of the Mountains triumph in 1984.
Cavendish is also the first green jersey winner to win more than three stages in doing so since 1981.

Throughout the Tour de France our expert panel will pick out a performance of the day for each stage. The aim is to highlight the sterling work or exceptional performance of a rider who may not have grabbed the headlines.
Rather than rewarding a stage winner, we want to single out the great performances from his teammates who helped him win. This could be a domestique who spent many kilometres on the front closing down a breakaway, or a sprinter’s lead-out man who did his job so well that his sprinter coasted to victory
