Unsurprisingly given his excellent maiden stage win, Team Sky's Norwegian powerhouse was voted Stage 6's IG Markets Rider of the Day. La Gazzetta dello Sport's Ciro Scognamiglio explains why.
"There are only two Norwegian riders in this year’s Tour de France. One, Thor Hushovd, has collected his fifth day in the yellow jersey. And the other one, Edvald Boasson Hagen, today has taken the first victory of his career at the Tour!
"He is only 24 years old, but he has already a palmares of more than 50 victory (at only 22, he won Gand-Wevelgem). Today he was helped by his team-mate Geraint Thomas, and on a finish like this it wasn't easy to neutralize two riders so powerful as Goss and Hushovd.
"He has been able to do that, congratulations to him. And to Norway: there isn't only skiing near the North Pole!"
Judge: Ciro Scognamiglio (La Gazzetta dello Sport)
