New yellow jersey wearer Andy Schleck said he was confident of retaining his lead over Cadel Evans on Saturday's crucial time trial stage at Grenoble.

"Yes," he told ITV's Ned Boulting when asked if he was confident. "Every second counts, I'll go full gas tomorrow and hope it's enough."

Schleck also commented on an incident mid-way through Stage 19 in which he turned to talk to his Australian rival Evans.

"I asked him if he wants to ride, because it was only Frank and me riding," Schleck said. "But his plan didn't work."
