UCI president Pat McQuaid tells Ned Boulting he only wants justice to be served in the case of Alberto Contador, and that his organisation 'didn't really believe' the Spaniard's explanation of contaminated meat causing his positive dope test.
Contador tested positive for the banned substance clenbuterol during the 2010 Tour de France, which he won. He now faces a Court of Arbitration for Sport hearing in early August after the UCI appealed against the Spanish cycling federation's decision to exonerate the three-time Tour winner.
"The UCI feel that we didn't really believe the meat story," McQuaid tells Ned Boulting.
"At the end of the day, I want justice to happen. If Alberto is cleared, so be it, he's cleared, we forget about it and we move on ... as the end of the day it's justice, that's all I want to happen."
