The story of the 2011 Tour de France in pictures

Day by day, ITV.com/tour will bring you the best images from the magical 2011 edition of Le Tour de France. The first week takes the riders, support staff, media and travelling spectators from the Grand Depart at Passage du Gois around the flats of north-western France.
The second week takes the Tour through the heart of France and down into the Pyrenees where the favourites will be looking to stamp their authority on the peloton.
The final week sees the Tour roadshow move along the south of France and into the fearsome Alps where the towering peaks of Le Galibier and Alpe d'Huez await. Once they have put their bodies through the punishing mountains, they roll into Paris and Champs-Élysées finish that caps three weeks in the sport's blue riband event...
