Wiggins: We passed the test on Stage 16
Bradley Wiggins said his Sky team had once again "passed the test" after successfully defending his race lead throughout Stage 16.
Wiggins and team-mate Chris Froome successfully neutralised an attack from Vincenzo Nibali, and managed to stretch their advantage over last year's winner, Cadel Evans.
Wiggins told ITV Sport's Ned Boulting: "It was hot out there today, probably the hottest day we've had. As a team we passed the test again. The team were fantastic again today.
"It was an ideal scenario putting more time into Cadel. Obviously we didn't get rid of Nibali, he was strong out there but it was a great day.
"You never underestimate him, but it was nice to finish with him and take everything he threw at us."
