Sky leader Chris Froome says he was extremely pleased to have picked up the yellow jersey having won Stage 8.
The British rider was first over the line in the Pyrenees, with Richie Porte coming just behind him.
“I couldn’t be happier, it really has been a nervous week up until now," Froome told ITV's Ned Boulting.
“The team has done a fantastic job – we’ve come through this week in a really good position.
"Being able repay my team-mates today with a stage win, and Richie [Porte] in second we couldn’t have asked for more today.
