Wiggins reveals 'scary' flare encounter
Bradley Wiggins held on comfortably to his yellow jersey on Stage 12 of the Tour de France but he did reveal that he had a "scary" encounter with a spectator wielding a flare.
The Team Sky rider, who is on course to become the first Briton to win the Tour, branded the fan a "nuttter" and urged other spectators to stay calm for the rest of the race.
"I'm covered in yellow stuff and got a bit of a burn on my arm," he said. "It was some nutter running up the hill, and it shows you freak things like that can happen in the Tour. I'm fine though."
