Not surprisingly, Philippe Gilbert has struggled to replicate his amazing season of 2011, when he topped the UCI world rankings on the back of 18 race wins.
At the 2013 Tour, the Belgian's main role will be to support BMC team leaders Cadel Evans and Tejay van Garderen to the best of his ability, but he will still have his eye on adding to his one Tour stage win, achieved back in 2011.
