ITV’s Walk4Life Day 2011
On Sunday 25th September, ITV's Walk4Life Day is hitting the streets. This is a nationwide day of mass-participation walks which will see people across the country stepping out and on their way to a happier, healthier future.
The free events will be open to everyone from experienced ramblers to first time walkers. Ramblers, Active Norfolk, Natural England and Ramblers Cymru are working with ITV to run 11 walks across England and Wales.
As well as getting people up and about, the walks will celebrate the launch of Walk4Life Miles – newly instigated 1 mile long walking routes up and down the country. Positioned in parks, along footpaths and along canals, they are easy to follow routes marked with distinctive yellow waymarkers showing the start and end. There will be 2,012 of them across England by 2012.
ITV's Walk4life Day is part of ITV's support for the Department of Health's Change4Life campaign, a nationwide movement which aims to help us all eat well, move more and live longer. Change4Life brings together local, commercial and governmental partners to help people all over the country understand the long-term health risks of a poor diet and sedentary lifestyle.
It's the small and simple changes which can make a big difference. Walking is a great way to improve the general health of the whole family. It's a feel-good exercise that's good for the environment and it's completely free.
