Paulo Bento has agreed a two-year contract extension to remain as Portugal coach until the end of Euro 2016.
The 44-year-old took charge of the national team in 2010, replacing Carlos Queiroz, and led the team to the semi-finals of Euro 2012, where they lost to eventual winners Spain following a penalty shoot-out.
Bento also guided Portugal to this summer's World Cup finals, securing their place in Brazil with a 4-2 aggregate win over Sweden in the qualification play-offs after finishing second behind Russia in Group F.
The former Portugal, Sporting Lisbon and Benfica midfielder said on www.fpf.pt:: "I am honoured and hugely proud to continue to serve my country as I have been doing. I've never hidden the fact that I feel very good working with the Portuguese Football Federation."
