Los Ticos have undoubtedly been the fairytale package of this World Cup. Expected to prop up Group D, the Costa Ricans actually ended up topping the table thanks to wins against Italy and Uruguay, before a final round draw against England. Adding to that success with a dramatic victory on penalties against Greece, it was an evening only enhanced by the fact Costa Rica played with 10 men for close to an hour. Costa Rica coach says team are 'making history'

Costa Rica coach Jorge Luis Pinto praised his players' character after they overcame a second-half red card, conceding a late leveller and sustained attacks from Greece to reach their first ever World Cup quarter-final.

Jorge Luis Pinto rallied his team through extra time before the faultless penalty display.
