Sited on reclaimed land on the banks of the River Guaiba, the Estadio Beira-Rio is the home of club giants Internacional, bitter local rivals to Gremio. It will host five matches at Brazil 2014.
The largest ground in the south of Brazil, the stadium was originally opened in 1969. It took nearly a decade to build, with Inter fans lending a helping hand in its construction by donating bricks, cement and iron. The main feature of the revamped stadium is its innovative metal roof with an eye-catching design that evokes a line of feathers.
