Manchester, these guys have The X Factor - do you?
APPLICATIONS FOR 2017 ARE NOW CLOSED
The X Factor 2017 Auditions are coming to Manchester this Sunday (14th May) and there’s been some pretty big names who have tried their luck in the city before.
Yep, if a previous winner of the show wasn’t enough, Manchester saw not one, but THREE members of One Direction perform for our Judges, putting them well on their way to super-stardom.
See below for some of our favourites from Manchester and how YOU can Audition…
Back in 2010, 16-year old Harry Styles took to the stage to perform Stevie Wonder’s Isn’t She Lovely for Judges Simon Cowell, Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh. While Louis doubted that he might be too young, Hazza managed to get through to Boot Camp, where 1D were formed! He has since gone on score a No.1 solo single, with his debut album out later this month.
Shy 17-year old Zayn Malik performed Let Me Love You by Mario for the Judges, where he managed to get three yeses! His nerves almost got the better of him at Boot Camp, but Simon gave him another chance by giving him a place in One Direction. After five years in the band, Zayn decided to go it alone, later scoring a chart-topping hit with Pillowtalk and a hit LP.
Hitting the stage with his version of Plain White T’s Hey There Deliah, 19-year old Louis Tomlinson wowed the Judges and earned his place in One Direction, alongside fellow Manchester auditionees Harry Styles and Zayn Malik, with Liam Payne and Niall Horan completing the line-up. 1D got all the way to the Live Finals, coming third and cementing their place in X Factor history.
In 2005, 20-year old Shayne Ward impressed Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne during his Audition, going on to win the second series of the show. After releasing hit winner’s single That’s My Goal, Shayne enjoyed huge chart success. In 2015, he swapped the stage for the cobbles to play Aidan Connor in Coronation Street.
Jake Quickenden first auditioned for The X Factor in 2012, with the singer returning in 2014 as part of Mel B’s category. He got all the way through to the Live Shows, and was eliminated in Week 3 after losing the sing-off to group, Only The Young. He went on to compete in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, where he finished as runner-up.
Back in 2015, Josh Daniel left the Judges (Nick Grimshaw, Cheryl and Simon Cowell) in tears with his rendition of Labrinth’s Jealous - which he dedicated to his late friend. After being put through to Boot Camp, Josh got all the way to Judges’ Houses, where Grimmy decided not to put him through to the Live Shows. However, Josh’s emotional Audition remains one of our most popular today.
Do you think you’ve got what it takes to Audition for The X Factor? If you're 14 or over, come along to Lancashire County Cricket Club, Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester, M16 0PX on Sunday 14th May from 8am to show us your singing skills.
