Christine Talbot

Christine has anchored Calendar full-time since 2001 but was already a well-known face in the Yorkshire region after hosting the magazine and lifestyle programme Tonight for four years. She came to Yorkshire from the BBC after cutting her journalistic teeth on local papers and was quickly standing in on Calendar with the legendary Richard Whiteley. Christine has fronted many ITV Yorkshire programmes, including the investigative series Xposed, Silent Killer and Christine’s Big Trip which took her to far flung corners of the world. . She’s twice been short-listed for the Royal Television Society Best Presenter Award and says “I’m lucky to have a great job working with some of the nicest and most talented people in the business. I love live telly, its variety and the chance to meet people I would never normally meet. But, if I’m honest, it’s the ordinary people with extraordinary stories to tell that I enjoy talking to the most.

Duncan Wood

Duncan Wood has anchored Calendar since May 2003 after joining ITV Yorkshire from Britain’s most watched breakfast show GMTV where he was North of England correspondent and sofa presenter. His career in journalism spans almost 30 years……I know, he doesn’t look that old…….going from cub reporter on his home town paper to his own current affairs series on ITV 1 “Wood You Believe It”. Duncan’s reported from around the world but likes nothing more than telling a good, down to earth tale about real people in real life situations. He’s hosted several prestigious events across Yorkshire, he’s married with a teenage daughter, and whatever you do, don’t start a conversation with him about golf. You may be there for a while!! (He was once a scratch player you know, had a hole in one when he was 15 years old…………..)

Gaynor Barnes

Since joining the company in 1991, Gaynor has established herself as one of the most recognisable faces of ITV Yorkshire - bright and early each morning Gaynor now presents Calendar’s regional news bulletins within GMTV. In recent years, she’s hosted a variety of programmes both at home and abroad including Tonight, Live Lunch, Action Time, It’s a Vet’s Life, Missing, Winner Takes All and Car Boot Challenge. One particular highlight was cage diving with Great White Sharks off the coast of South Africa – an experience not to be repeated ! From Politicians to pop stars she has interviewed them all – however News has always been her first love and after nearly three decades in the business the thrill and challenge of live broadcasting each day has never diminished.

Jon Mitchell

Jon has brought sunshine to Calendar viewers since 1989. He’s been fascinated by the weather ever since he was class ‘weather monitor’ at primary school! Having spent over thirty years working for the Met Office Jon knows his stratus from his cumulus. He now lives near Ilkley in the Yorkshire Dales and counts football, hill walking and real-ale among his passions but having two teenage daughters, he doesn’t have a lot of money left to do much else! Jon says; “The best part of my job is getting out and about talking to people as well as filming in the breathtaking countryside of the Calendar region.” Jon is patron of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance Charity and is fascinated by steam locomotives and old industrial relics – some of whom he has to work with….

John Shires

John Shires arrived at Yorkshire Television in 1989, and his hair has been greying ever since! He has covered just about every kind of story imaginable, from every part of the region – but from the mid-90s onwards, he’s been the face of sport on YTV, presenting all the station’s football programmes, while all the time successfully disguising which local club he supports. He’s reported on Leeds United’s Champions League exploits around Europe, ice hockey in Finland, boxing in America, rugby league and rugby union in France, motor cycling in Spain and cricket in South Africa. Away from TV, John’s other claim to fame is that he played in the same school cricket team as David Gower. Since then it’s been downhill all the way. Dodgy knees have finally forced him to retire from competitive football and cricket, but not yet from golf. John is married with two daughters.
