Strike is binned

When refuse workers in Leeds walked out on strike at the start of September, few thought the dispute would last more than a couple of weeks.

But as those weeks turned into months and the rubbish piled up, divisions between the workers and management became increasingly bitter.

That was until earlier today, when the breakthrough finally arrived. After an improved offer by council chiefs - the binmen, drivers and street cleaners agreed to head back to work. Lisa Adlam was there.
