We all know our celebs work very hard throughout the week preparing and perfecting their transformation ahead of their Saturday night live performance.
They have choreography with the awesome Beth, vocal training with the fabulous Yvie but have you ever thought about the amazing people who work non-stop throughout the week on the visual transformations?
From coloured contact lenses to brand new noses, Your Face has the most dedicated and talented make up department in the industry!
The nine-strong make up team is headed up by Marie and Kate and we grabbed them for a quick chat to find out how they have enjoyed the series.
How important is the makeover part of the Your Face transformation?
Kate: The physical is just as important as the vocal and choreography. If not more, as once you look like someone you start to believe you are that person. And it’s very important that the audience believe who they are watching.
Which Your Face transformation has been the biggest challenge so far?
Kate: They have all been tough in their own sweet way but Matt’s transformation into Taylor Swift took the longest! Unlike Taylor, Matt has dark eyebrows and dark long sideburns, we couldn’t shave them off but somehow managed to conceal them!
Marie: Bobby Davro; turning him into a genteel Tammy Wynette was quite the challenge.
Who’s been your favourite YourFace transformation to create so far?
Kate: The cross gender makeovers have been brilliant. It’s not easy to get convincing dreadlock wigs so we were really happy with Lenny Kravitz.
Marie: For me Britney was the most accurate, Natalie lends herself so well to the real Britney. And Taylor Swift was more successful than we’d imagined as Matt is so dark.
What’s been your favourite performance of the series?
Kate: That’s tough!! We’re like Mums to the celebs now – it’s like watching our children when they perform, it’s so hard to pick a favourite. But if we had to choose it would be between Meatloaf and Taylor Swift - they were fantastic.
What’s the toughest part of your job?
Kate: It’s live TV! Once they’re out in stage we can’t change anything. That’s really tough for us as we sometimes work on films and other projects where we constantly able to touch-up and reshoot when something is not right.
Marie: And we makeup all the dancers too!
What do you enjoy the most about your job?
Marie: The satisfaction of seeing the end product and our lovely celebs taking to the stage believing they are that person they are taking on.
Kate: It’s also very important to make the celebs feel comfortable, they work so hard throughout the week and if they are finding that week’s transformation difficult (vocally or in choreography) we don’t want to add to that.
