Alesha: 'Simon likes that we are one, big dysfunctional family'

Alesha Dixon has revealed that there is absolutely no rivalry between herself and fellow Judge Amanda Holden… much to Simon’s disappointment.

Ahead of the new series of BGT - which starts this Saturday - Alesha revealed: “I don’t know if Simon likes us to bicker. I think he secretly loves the fact that Amanda and I really like each other, he likes that on our show it’s one big dysfunctional, happy family. The banter is brilliant, if something feels good, it feels good.

“When we’re all together laughing, cracking jokes and winding each other up, that’s what makes going to work fun. If Amanda and I didn’t have the relationship that we have then it would be a different dynamic, it would be a different show and I might not still be sitting here five or six years later. I think that’s the secret ingredient, we all like each other and have fun, that’s what makes it special.”

As well as her fellow Judges, Alesha confessed that this year, she wants to see a different sort of act take the title: “The show is variety and the fact that every single year we have an opportunity for a different type of act to win, that makes it really interesting and really unique.

“We’ve had a magician win, obviously now I want to see something different, we want to see a stand up comedian do well. At the root of it, the most important thing is that whoever wins, truly deserves it."

She added: "You do feel that sense of pressure, you don’t want people to get bored, you want them to think the show is still as crazy and real as it always has been.”

BGT returns to ITV this Saturday, 15th April, at 8pm! Bring on the talent…
