Trio of Thirds Gives Hill Championship Lead
Three third-place finishes at Thruxton have left Jake Hill in the lead of the British Touring Car Championship, a point ahead of Josh Cook.
Hill’s Ford Focus was particularly quick in race three, starting on slick tyres on a wet track, he carved his way back through the order and eventually passed Sutton for the lead on lap ten.
Incredibly, no sooner had Hill hit the front than the rain began to fall again on the high-speed Hampshire circuit, giving Sutton the opportunity to come back for the victory in the latter stages.
"It was crazy," said Hill. "It was so hard to judge and as it rained at the end, the last few laps, it was such hard work to keep it on the road.
"I'm proud of myself and proud of the team."
Cook had won the first two races but was out of the points in 20th position in race three.
